Women’s Voices. Women Vote Action Fund Holds Focus Groups in Ohio, Pennsylvania
What Will Motivate the Rising American Electorate to Vote in 2010?

Washington, DC—Women’s Voices. Women Vote Action Fund (WVWVAF) has commissioned focus groups in order to discover what issues the Rising American Electorate (RAE) finds most critical and what motivates this burgeoning and powerful segment of the electorate to turn out to vote. Unmarried women, along with youth, African Americans, and Hispanics, make up the Rising American Electorate, a critical bloc of voters that now comprises 52% of the voting eligible population nationally.

The focus groups, conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, are taking place in Cleveland, Ohio and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Files of the focus group discussions will be available on the WVWVAF website within one business day after the event at http://wvwvaf.org/our-research.

The poll released today covers How to Talk About the Economy with the Rising American Electorate  (RAE).

From the report: "RAE voters are an indispensible part of the progressive base in this country.  Political outcomes are driven both by their electoral choices and their relative participation in this Democracy.  The 2010 election cycle saw a significant withdrawal from the Democrats among some members of the RAE, mostly because the economic change they voted for in 2008 was slow in coming and progressive messaging often failed to reflect their economic reality.  Progressives’ success depends in large measure on correcting this mistake in 2012."
