Donald Trump’s First Year Was A Disaster For The Rising American Electorate

January 30, 2018

Page Gardner, president and founder of Women’s Voices Women Vote Action Fund (WVWVAF), released the following statement in anticipation of President Trump reading off a teleprompter in his State of the Union address:

“Donald Trump has had a bull’s eye on the Rising American Electorate, who are the majority of the voting eligible population, ever since he became president. His policies have made it harder for unmarried women, people of color, and young people to support their families, earn a living wage, and gain quality education. Nothing Trump says tonight is going to improve life for the majority of citizens in this country.

“Come November, the Rising American Electorate has the potential to vote for candidates who speak to their values and will deliver positive change for the country. Donald Trump and the Republican Party have already proven they don’t care about the RAE – they care about lining the pockets of their wealthy donors and corporate CEOs.”

WVWVAF last week released the third panel from their innovative year-long survey of the same 1,500 people that shows the Rising American Electorate — unmarried women, people of color, and young people — as well as white working-class women are angry at Donald Trump and the Republican Party, but have become less likely to vote over the last year.
